Bad breath: why and how can we treat?
Bleeding and bad breath
Bad breath is an usual symptom of the gum disease. The main cause of bad breath is the accumulation of blood, food and infected cells trapped between the gum and the teeth. This contributes to the bacterial growth of the area, involving a immune response of the body.
That response destroys the surrounding bacteria, but also all the body cells around as collateral damage. Normally, the body heals after an episode of immune response, but since the habits remain unchanged, the regeneration rate is slowing down.
Bad breath comes usually with gum bleeding. Those are signs that the periodontal disease has grown to a urgent treatment needed stage.
The dentist will clean the infected area, removing bacteria, food and death cells. That will leave a chance to the body to regenerate, if not completely, at lease in part.
For sure, a primary condition for the healing process to take place, is the use of dental floss, medicated mouth rinse and, sometime, the use of antibiotics.
