Periodontal disease: effects on general heath
Complications of periodontal infections
The periodontal infection starts in the mouth. However, if the infection grows, it will effect the rest of the body. Research shows more and more correlations with the following diseases:
(1)cardiorespiratory diseases
(2)premature birth
(3)osteoporosis
(4)arteriosclerosis
(5)complication of diabetes cases
It is not very complicated to understand how gum infections can have those implications. An infection, if not treated and controlled, will spread out and infect other parts of the body.
Some physicians specialist in birth have qualified that the periodontal disease is the number one treatable cause of miscarriage and premature birth.
