Bruxism, night squeaking
Pain with the alarm clock
The night squeaking of the teeth is the phenomenon by which an individual is carried to squeak and/or to tighten the teeth in response to stress. Sometime, this is a conscious answer, but very often, it is an unconscious habit which occurs while sleeping. The night squeaking is a neuro-physiological dysfunction which destroys teeth and surrounding structures progressively.
The cause is often connected to bad habits and stress. Although the problem concerns psychology, the symptoms inside the mouth are often the first to be noticed. Jaw pains, face muscles cramps, tooth ache that come and go, premature wear of the teeth, headache, are some of the signs of the squeaking of the teeth.
Although the squeaking can be carried out day like night, night squeaking is more harmful because, the contact is teeth against teeth. It is during these night episodes that the damage is done to the teeth and the jaw articulation.
If not treated, night squeaking can cause the teeth to move, fracture teeth, cause tooth sensitivity, muscular pain and pain at the jaw articulation.
An early diagnosis can avoid you the complications connected to the bruxism. At the dental level, a simple occlusal plate can correct the situation. At your next visit, speak with your doctor.
