SENSITIVE TEETH
DEFINITION:
Tooth sensitivity is a pain that can be felt on one or many teeth. It can be stimulated by heat, cold, sweets, or even breathing in cold air.
SYMPTOMS:
•Sensitive teeth to extreme temperatures (heat or cold), as well as sweets.
TREATMENTS:
•Non-acidic mouthwashes containing fluoride.
•Fillings to cover worn away enamel.
•Other treatments can be necessary for more severe symptoms or a persistent sensitivity.
PREVENTION:
•Maintain a good oral hygiene (i.e. proper brushing technique and flossing).
•Use a toothbrush with soft bristles.
•Reduce the consumption of acidic foods or drinks.
•Avoid grinding the teeth.
•Regular dental exams (i.e. at least twice a year).
