After 20, because the growth is finished and the lack of space is confirmed. Before 30, because the healing process is facilitated. After 30, the healing time is increase and may be more difficult.

The extraction before the appearance of pain or infection is recommended because it simplifies the medical procedures, reduced the risks of complications, and therefore, decrease the time of the healing process.

Click to take an appointment or ask a question via email.

After the surgery: bite on a cotton for 45 minutes to allow the formation of a blood clot. It is the loss of that initial blood clot which can lead to complications, pain and sometime, infections.

You have to avoid any action that can dislodge the blood clot and reopened the scar. The next 2 to 3 days after the surgery:

avoid spitting
avoid rinsing the mouth
avoid smoking
avoid physical exercises, intense effort
avoid any spicy food or too heat

If for an unspecified reason, the clot is lost and that the bleeding starts again, bite on a tea bag slightly moistened directly on the wound and keep a constant pressure for at least an hour. This will help reform a new blood clot. If the bleeding persist, contact your dentist or a medical authority.

In order to reduce the puffiness, apply ice for 15 minutes on the cheek in the hours following the surgery. It is important to stop after 15 minutes and to not apply ice again before 45 minutes. If not apply in the strict protocol, the effect will be reversed and the puffiness will get even worse.

By the application of ice, there is a reduction in the blood circulation which results in a reduction ignition, which decreases the puffiness. However, if the ice is applied longer than 15 minutes, the ignition increase in response to it new trauma (cold).

In the days following the surgery, there is no more inflammatory reaction. Therefore it is irrelevant to apply ice.

When the attached gum becomes thin or is lost, there is one exposure of the dental roots. This disease is called gingival recession. Without protection, the sensitivity is due to early excessive wear of the roots.

Even if there are several causes, the main reason is an excessive and inadequate brushing. Often, a simple revision of the brushing technique by a dentist or a hygienist, is enough to stop the progression of the problem.

Once the problem is stabilize, a replacement of the lost gum is to be considered. This replacement of the gum is called GUM GRAFT.
