Teeth Bleaching
I'm a smoker, can I bleach my teeth?
Yes, but during the treatment period, the patient will have to cease smoking. The carcinogenic potential of nicotine is substantially increased in the presence of peroxide. It takes 24 hours after the treatment for the harmful effect of peroxide to disappear.
For the home kit bleaching, the patient will have the cease smoking for the 2 weeks of the trays treatment.
For people who don’t want to stop smoking, the alternative is the clinical “laser” bleach. The clinical bleaching is faster and more efficient. Since the whole procedure takes place within two hours, the patient will only have to

avoid smoking for the 24 hours following the treatment instead of the two weeks of bleaching at home.
